Usage Note
Tirik has several related senses around the idea of something pointing straight up or locking in place. Eyes that roll upward (natirik ang mata) signal unconsciousness or death. A vehicle that has stalled completely is also said to be natirik. And setting an object perfectly upright is another use. The common thread is vertical fixation or stopping cold.
