Usage Note
Doktrina entered Filipino through the Catholic Church via Spanish doctrina — historically referring to catechism classes for converts. Today it broadly denotes any formal body of teaching: religious, political, or legal, with doktrinang Kristiyano remaining in active use in parishes.
