Usage Note

Kumintang is an ancient Tagalog musical and dance tradition associated with the Batangas region, originally performed by warriors before battle or to celebrate victory. It is considered one of the oldest documented Philippine musical forms, referenced by Spanish colonial chroniclers in the 16th century, and is studied today as intangible cultural heritage.
