Usage Note
Sandalyas is borrowed from the Spanish sandalias and refers to open-toed footwear worn for casual or warm-weather use. In the Philippines, cheap rubber tsinelas (flip-flops) and sandalyas are the default everyday footwear, especially at home and in informal settings. The word is used interchangeably with tsinelas in many regions.
