Usage Note
Dalaw covers both the act of visiting and the person who comes to visit. The verb form 'dalawin' or 'dumalaw' is common. Visiting relatives and friends — especially in the province or in the hospital — is a strong cultural value in Filipino society, and dalaw appears frequently in this context.
