Usage Note

Hinaharap is the contemplated-aspect form of harap used nominally to mean 'the future' — literally what one faces or what lies ahead. It is the standard Tagalog word for future in both formal and informal registers and contrasts with nakaraan (past) and kasalukuyan (present) in temporal discourse.
