Usage Note
Kartilya is a Spanish loanword for a beginner's literacy primer, but it gained deep patriotic resonance as the title of the Katipunan's moral code written by Emilio Jacinto during the Philippine Revolution. Learners often encounter the word first in its revolutionary context rather than its educational one.
