colonization
Usage Note
Kolonyalisasyon is a longer, more formal variant of kolonisasyon, derived from Spanish colonialización, and found in academic papers, formal speeches, and policy documents. The distinction from kolonisasyon is subtle — kolonyalisasyon more explicitly foregrounds the colonial system as an ideology rather than a historical event.
