Usage Note
Lampara is a Spanish loanword (from lámpara) for a lamp — typically one with a shade or globe, such as a kerosene lamp or a standing floor lamp. Before widespread electrification, the kerosene lampara was an essential household item in rural Philippines and remains a nostalgic symbol in folk songs and literature.
