Usage Note

Niyon is the genitive form of the distal demonstrative pronoun, indicating possession or association with something far from both the speaker and the listener — equivalent to 'of that over there' or 'its' referring to a distant referent. It is part of the three-way Tagalog demonstrative system: nito (near speaker), niyan (near listener), niyon (far from both).
