Usage Note
Bulgar is borrowed from Spanish 'vulgar' and describes language, behaviour, or humour that is crude, coarse, or socially unacceptable. It is commonly used by older speakers and in formal writing. Younger Filipinos more often use the English 'bastos' or 'malaswa' for similar meanings.
