Usage Note

Kalunya refers to a person with whom someone has an illicit romantic or sexual relationship outside of marriage, or to the affair itself. It is a strong, somewhat archaic or literary word; in everyday speech, Filipinos are more likely to use kerida for a mistress or kabit for a third party in a relationship.
