Usage Note
Lumusot is the actor-focus infinitive of lusot, formed with -um-, whose literal sense of passing through a narrow gap has largely been overtaken by its figurative meaning of escaping blame, evading detection, or barely passing a test. This figurative usage is so common it has become idiomatic in everyday Filipino speech; the noun lusot refers to the act of getting away with something.
