Sobenismo is borrowed from Spanish 'chovinismo' — ultimately from Nicolas Chauvin's name — and refers to excessive or aggressive patriotism and, in modern usage, male chauvinism. It appears in political discourse, gender studies, and academic writing, but is too formal for casual conversation.
