sulking; resentment; spat

noun verb tam-PÔ Native origin Common

Usage Note

Tampo is a uniquely Filipino emotional concept — a mild form of sulking or withdrawal to signal hurt feelings, usually toward someone close. Unlike full anger, tampo is a quiet, pouty resentment that expects the other person to notice and make amends. It is especially common among children and in romantic relationships.
