Usage Note

Diyakritiko is borrowed from Spanish diacrítico, via Greek, and refers to accent marks and other symbols placed on letters to indicate stress or glottal stops in Tagalog. The Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino promotes correct diacritical use to preserve the disambiguating function of stress in written Tagalog.
