harap-harapan
openly face-to-face
From root: harap
Usage Note
Harap-harapan is a reduplicated form of harap conveying directness and the absence of concealment — a frank accusation, an open quarrel, or a direct challenge delivered without intermediary. It often carries a socially charged undertone, since Filipino communication norms typically favor indirectness to preserve social harmony.
