Kandarapa is the Tagalog name for the Philippine eared nightjar (Lyncornis (Eurostopodus) temminckii), a nocturnal bird endemic to the Philippines. Because of its nocturnal habits and cryptic plumage, it is more often heard than seen. In some Filipino folk traditions, the calls of nightjars at night are considered omens, lending the bird a mysterious cultural presence.
