Lamandagat is a compound of laman (contents, flesh) and dagat (sea), serving as a collective term for all sea creatures. It appears in fishing contexts, environmental discourse, and folklore — where sea spirits are sometimes also called lamandagat — and is the formal Tagalog equivalent of mga hayop sa dagat.
