Usage Note
Kastelyano is an adaptation of Spanish Castellano and referred both to the Castilian language and to Spaniards themselves during the colonial and early post-colonial Philippines. Today it is mostly a historical or literary term; Espanyol is more commonly used for the Spanish language in modern contexts.
