Usage Note
Giling refers to the process of grinding — most commonly used for grinding meat, coffee beans, corn, or rice. 'Igiling' means to grind something, and 'gilingan' is the machine or mill. At wet markets, customers can request freshly ground pork for dishes like longganisa. The term is also used figuratively for persistence ('giling lang nang giling' — keep on grinding).
