Usage Note

Kalandak carries a double sense: boasting about oneself and spreading idle gossip or rumors about others. Both senses are socially disapproved behaviors in Filipino culture. It is an informal, slightly archaic-sounding word used more in regional Tagalog and literary contexts than in Metro Manila urban speech.

Literal Translation

Natural Translation

Don't listen to his/her boasting; that's not true.

Literal Translation

Don't you listen to-the boasting his/her; not true that.

Advanced

" Sa halip na magtrabaho, buong araw na lang siyang nangangalandak tungkol sa mga bagay na hindi naman niya nagawa. "

Natural Translation

Instead of working, he just spends the whole day boasting about things that he didn't actually do.

Literal Translation

In place of work, whole day just he boasting about the things that not actually he did.
