Usage Note
Kaldereta is borrowed from Spanish caldereta (a stew cooked in a small cauldron) and in the Philippines refers primarily to the beloved tomato-and-liver-based stew made with goat, beef, or chicken. It is a festive dish served at fiestas and celebrations, and the original meaning of a small cooking pot is now secondary in common usage.
