Komedya is a Spanish loanword (from comedia) that in its traditional Philippine sense refers to a type of folk theatre featuring Christian–Muslim conflicts, elaborate costumes, and verse dialogue — also called moro-moro. Introduced during the Spanish colonial period, it remains performed during fiestas in some provinces, though in modern casual speech it can simply mean something comedic.
