Usage Note

Inaanak is derived from anak (child) and refers to a godchild placed in someone's spiritual or social care. The godparent-godchild relationship — ninong or ninang and inaanak — is one of the most important social bonds in Filipino Catholic culture, carrying lifelong obligations of support and gift-giving.
