Usage Note

Kamatsile refers to Pithecellobium dulce, also called Manila tamarind or madras thorn, a tree with sweet-sour edible pulp that children enjoy eating raw. The tree is drought-resistant and widely planted as a shade tree in Philippine towns, and its seeds and bark also have traditional medicinal uses.
