Pamangkin is a gender-neutral term for a nephew or niece — the child of one's sibling. Unlike English, Filipino does not distinguish by gender in this kinship term. Pamangkin relationships carry significant warmth in Filipino family culture, and aunts and uncles often play active roles in raising their pamangkin.
