Usage Note

Tarheta comes from Spanish tarjeta (card). It historically referred to a calling card or visiting card used in formal social and business contexts. In modern Filipino usage it most often means business card, though younger speakers may simply say business card or tarjeta. It carries a slightly formal or old-fashioned register.
